Do you have a passion for service? Would you like to help guide the vision and oversee direction of a well-established nonprofit that is expanding its services in Africa, as well as educating communities in the Pacific NW about Africa’s opportunities and challenges?
The Harambee Centre’s mission is to connect the people of the Pacific Northwest with the people and cultures of Africa. Harambee means “Let’s pull together” in Kiswahili. As members of the global community, we are committed to sharing both material and cultural wealth. The Harambee Center is an Oregon not for profit organization that received its 501(c)3 tax status in August 2001.
Harambee Centre is always welcoming applicants to join its Board of Directors. Members attend ten Board meetings a year, as well as serve on at least one working committee of their choice. Board terms are two years.
We are seeking leaders with a sincere passion for the welfare of African people and/or multicultural education. We appreciate creative, energetic individuals and are especially looking for people who can provide one or more of the following:
- Fundraising including donor relations, grant writing and event planning
- Strong community connections
- Website maintenance
