Volunteer Trip to East Africa

Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania

Lead by Harambee Centre co-founder and president, Grace Kuto, and co-chair Cameron Kays, volunteers and supporters traveled to Chwele, Kenya, Matale, Uganda, and Mwanga, Tanzania. They visited and interacted with staff, volunteers, and participants in the Najijali Program, Water Harvesting Project, and St. Andrew’s Girls’ Dormitory Project. The trip lasted about 2-weeks in March and April 2023.

In the spring and summer of 2024, Harambee Centre is organizing volunteers to travel to East Africa to participate in a variety of projects for communities in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Each individual will be responsible for obtaining specific items such as their passport, visas, immunizations, medical insurance, and airline tickets. The cost of travel is the responsibility of each individual. It is estimated you should budget up to $5,000 for this journey.

Harambee Centre will assist with lodging, meals, transportation while on the ground, and provide volunteer opportunities. Additional sightseeing opportunities will be made available to participants, and the cost of those trips will be the responsibility of each individual, above and beyond your primary travel expenses.
