Impact Story: Madam Judith Naluyima

Madam Judith Naluyima has been the head mistress of St. Andrews Matale Secondary School for the last several years. Matale has been a partner community for Harambee on several projects including the ongoing Girls Dormitory which Madam Judith is spearheading.

Judith was born in 1976 as the 4th child among 9 children and raised in a typical environment of growing matooke (bananas) fetching water on the head and collecting firewood from nearby swamps. Her biggest memories  are of her early childhood in a Kabasanda village in Ssembabule district. She lost her parents at a small age and was raised in the hands of different people in the community.

For school she went through St. Claire's Girls school for primary education, Trinity college Nabbingo for secondary education, Nkozi Teachers Training College and Kampala International University later on. On top of being the head teacher at Matale Senior Secondary School (first woman), she is also pursuing a master’s degree in education management and leadership at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi. Her favorite quote, “Being a struggling achiever,  I focus on empowering young girls to have self-esteem through education". We are very honored at Harambee to have such a partner leading our efforts in Uganda.
