Najijali Project Updates & Childcare Centre

Najijali Project

The Najijali (I care for myself) Project empowers teenage mothers to become financially independent in rural Chwele, Kenya through learning sewing and other life sustaining skills at the Chwele Vocational Training College. A grant application for a total of $180,000 has been approved by Rotary International Foundation to White Salmon-Bingen Rotary Club, USA and Bungoma Magharibi Rotary Club, Kenya for this project. To make the Najijali Project holistic, an anonymous donor has made it possible for Harambee Centre to partner with Bungoma County for a Childcare Centre, read more about it down below.

Childcare Centre: Cost is $60,000

We are grateful for our generous anonymous donor, in partnership with Bungoma County Ministry of Education to build a Childcare Centre in the College compound for the teen mother’s children to give them a head start in early childhood education. This will provide a safe and educational environment for both the mothers and their children, which will contribute immensely to the success of this program. On July 27th, the Bungoma County first lady (Governor’s wife), Carolyne Wangamati presided over a celebratory ground breaking ceremony for the Childcare Centre which will be sustained by professional staff support funded by the Bungoma Country Ministry of Education.
