Training and Education

Teen mothers in rural Africa struggle against cultural stigma, bullying, and marginalization and 98% do not return to school. This lack of education often leaves them with no opportunities to provide financially for themselves and their children. As a result, teens may be forced into abusive relationships or early marriage.

The Najijali Project is a six-month vocational training program to teach teen mothers to sew. They will learn business and finance basics and receive wrap around services to support a healthy life. Courses will include reproductive health, home science and food security, child care basics and mental health support.

After a three-month internship, girls will graduate and receive a manual sewing machine and supplies. The class will enroll in a micro finance program to access funds to start their businesses.
