Scholarship Program: Invest in Future Leaders
The 2024 inaugural cohort. L-R Derrick Sserwanja (S3), Dorothy Nakayemba (S2), Namiyingo Julian (S1), Tonny Blink Miyingo (S3) and Vincent Muwonge (S3).
The Harambee Muyoka Scholarship Program is a collaborative initiative with St. Andrew's Secondary School Matale to transform lives by providing talented, underprivileged students the chance to pursue education and leadership opportunities. Since 2002, Harambee has supported St. Andrew's by building crucial infrastructure like science labs, water harvesting systems, and safe dormitories for girls, creating a strong foundation for academic success. Now, we are shifting our focus to empowering people—particularly bright students who lack the financial means to reach their full potential. By investing in young people today, we are building a brighter, more self-sustaining future for the communities of Matale and Kalisizo. Our goal is to nurture 100 future leaders over the next decade, individuals who will, in turn, inspire and mentor others.
Seeds of Change
Launched in 2024 with five exceptional students, the Scholarship Program has grown to support seven scholars in 2025 at St. Andrew’s. Chosen for their resilience and leadership potential, these students continue to excel academically and serve as prefects and peer mentors.
Vicent Muwonge and Derrick Sserwanja have advanced to A-Level studies, while Dorothy Nakayemba and Tonny Blink Miyingo are preparing for their O-Levels. In a powerful act of service, our scholars led a donation drive for pupils at Kasaka Primary School—mobilizing their school community to collect books, pens, soap, sanitary pads, and other essentials. They personally organized, packaged, and delivered the items, offering encouragement and mentorship to their younger peers—proof that they are not just succeeding, but already giving back.
How You Can Help Us Make a Difference
We invite you to partner with us in supporting these scholars by making a donation, sponsoring a student, or collaborating with us through in-kind contributions. The Harambee Scholarship covers half of the student's tuition, provides leadership training and mentorship, and offers essential scholastic materials. With an annual investment of $500 per student, you are not just funding education—you are empowering young leaders to uplift their communities.
